Hosting

Timelines, tablescapes and menus for gatherings people remember, and a host who gets to enjoy them.

Guests remember the lighting, the music and whether you sat down. Everything we publish here is in service of that last one.

Our hosting stories are checklists and timelines first: what to do a week out, the day before and in the final half hour. Then the details that make an evening feel considered: the table, the drink, the landing station by the door.

We plan around one rule: one showpiece, the rest simple.

A note from the editors

Batch the drink in a pitcher. You pour instead of mix, and the host stays in the room.

  3. The Friday Menu

    Coming soon

A cheese board, a pot of chili with toppings, ice cream with warm salted caramel. Made before the doorbell.

  4. The Landing Station
